Alignment Lift
For every automotive repair shop it is imperative that they be able to do tire alignments as well. For some vehicles that may not be driving like it should a simple alignment may be the necessary fix it needs. If you have a newer automotive repair shop, you may want to consider have this type of lift installed so that you will be able to complete these types of repairs.
When you are considering where you may want to install or replace an alignment lift in your shop, you should remember that this type of lift has to be level. If for some reason your lift is not level the mechanic will not get the best reading of how the tires currently sit and what adjustments they may need to make to correctly align the tires.
Another benefit to having an alignment lift is that it will lift vehicles to a certain height so that the vehicles are easier to work on when alignment angles may need to be adjusted. This will also allow the mechanic to have an easier time seeing and reading the alignment machine which can make the job easier for the mechanic.
When you are considering an alignment lift you will find that they are typically a 4 post lift that the mechanic will be able to drive the vehicle onto. However you may want to remember that different lifts will have different weight capacities and you may want to make sure that the lift you are using will properly work for any vehicle that you may need to do an alignment on.
On some lifts there will be an open front to allow for easier access to the vehicle. This style of alignment lift will make it easier for the mechanic to work on and therefore easier to complete an alignment. However just because the front is open it will still have tire stoppers to make sure that the mechanic does not accidentally drive off the front of the lift.
If you have an older alignment machine you may want to consider purchasing an older model alignment lift as these models may have the connections you may need for the machine.
The connections are what allow the machine to get the readings it needs to be able to supply the mechanic with the adjustments they may need to make.
Another benefit to the alignment lift is that it will allow for the weight of the vehicle to remain the same and keep the steering suspension components compressed the same as if the vehicle was sitting of the ground. If the suspension components are not compressed the mechanic will not be able to get a reading of the current alignment therefore will not be able to complete an alignment of the vehicle.
